Uterine Cancer Examination
The city of Hachioji began in 1973 public funding of uterus examinations through individual facilities.
Currently, the examination is given from July through October to any woman who is 30 or older. The procedure to apply for the examination is printed in the first of the month issue, from June through September of "Koho Hachioji", an official city magazine.
The number of people taking advantage of the examination service each year is between 10,000 to 16,000 for the last several years, which is only 12 - 18% of all those targeted. It is our desire that as many people as possible will take advantage of the examination service.
Through the examination service, several cases of uterine cancer are detected each year, resulting in early discovery and treatment of the cancer. For the last 40 years, the rate of cervical cancer deaths has been decreasing. However, uterine cancer is in an increasing trend. Women should receive an examination once a year and help ensure a healthy life.
